Q: How has your Midwest Mole career unfolded? What makes Midwest Mole special?
A: I originally started here in March 2009. I believe in what we do, and I believe in our capabilities. We know how to rise up to challenges, we develop good relationships, and we know how to solve problems. We also know how to be profitable as a contractor — we give value to the people we work for, and we provide a good living for the people who work for us.
Q: What did you do before you came to Midwest Mole?
A: I have a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. After college, I worked for an aircraft engine manufacturer for three years. Then, from 1992 to 1995, I worked as a project manager for roadway, underground utility, and bridge-building projects for a construction company. In 1995, I was promoted to Vice President, a position I held until 2005.
I spent 2005 to 2008 as the general manager of an excavation firm, overseeing estimating, project management, field operations, personnel, safety, and equipment management. I’m also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, as well as the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration.
Q: What’s your family life like? Any hobbies or interests?
A: I got married in 1992, and I have three daughters. We also have a dog in the family. In my free time, I like snow skiing in the winter and water skiing in the summer.
